This is my old YAMAHA FG-180 which I've bought in 1978, when it was about two years old. Well, I learned all my basic chops on that guitar because I've bought my second instrument in 1988, ten years later. This second guitar was a Kazuo Yairi DY62CP acoustic with cutaway and (then) very modern stereo system in the piezzo under saddle system. That guitar can be heard on my "This Train" CD with Blues Trio as well as on the LP "Smallest Trio In The World". I don't own it any more, ehm... I sold it to my car mechanic in exchange for his services. Yeah, I wasn't too crazy about that guitar I guess. But you won't see me doing any business of that kind with the guitars I'm having now, no way ! The pickup in the soundhole is from a vintage Hagström Viking electric guitar, and it's simply mounted in a wooden plate I've made myself. The picture was taken before I had the chance to paint it black. It sounds heavenly when I use low C or B tunings, with heavy strings etc, nothing beats the sound of these vintage pickups when it comes to sliding... It does sound totaly electric though. But that's what I wanted it to sound anyway...:-) This guitar has been retired now and I only use it for recording and playing around the house. The pickup has been moved to the Sigma 12 string.
