I've played with Robert for a couple of years, and we were the first acoustic blues band on the scene. Our gig together with the Blues Quintet at the "Masinac" in 1981 marked the beginning of the blues scene in Belgrade. Robert is now playing as Lonesome Bob Tilly and he is absolutely one of the best in business. His fantastic voice and, at the same time, both rural and rafined approach to the guitar playing, evokes the spirit of the old country blues, without copying the original. No, Bob is too good for that. I do hope I'll soon be playing with him again. The plan is to get together - Pera Joe, Bob and me, a lonesome night in the studio, first takes.... and that's it. Robert is not only a musician, he's a poet, writer and translator. He lives in Subotica, Serbia. |
